Hi! I’m Lyz Scott and have been practicing yoga for the last 15 years. I am married and have 2 boys, ages 9 and 7. Yoga enables me to be a better mom, wife and human. I teach all levels of classes from beginner (with introduction to the poses) to “advanced” (with more challenging options like arm balances or inversions). I primarily teach Hatha and Vinyasa, but I also enjoy practicing Restorative Yoga, Yin and Meditation. I like to present challenges in my classes. These challenges may vary greatly. I address and honor all aspect of the self. My classes create space where we can delve into our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual selves to create an opening that facilitates greater harmony within the whole of our being.

I love taking the opportunity to connect with my students, and I enjoy creating an environment for us to get to know ourselves better as both individuals and as a community. Establishing connections with my students, creating safe spaces to practice, and grow this community through the practice of yoga makes my heart full. Yoga is for everyone - no matter what your level of fitness or flexibility may be. I look forward to meeting and practicing alongside you! Namaste.

Background

When I was 18, my mom took me to a yoga class. I envisioned everyone holding hands doing the Kumbaya together. I thought it would be easy. We would do some stretching and have a relaxing time. But when the class began, there were people defying gravity right in front of my eyes! I was shocked and amazed. I realized how incorrect I had been in my judgement. It blew my mind. Being a lifelong athlete, I looked around and wondered, “When did they learn this stuff?!”

Years later, wed, and living in the Bay Area, I dove deep into my practice. In Los Gatos’ Yoga Source, I received instruction from Dr. Robyn Capobianco as well as Angela Majic. I practiced almost daily, and I couldn’t wait to attend the next class. Yoga had me longing to go to as many classes as possible.

I adore traveling and felt comfortable attending many different studios around the country. Getting to experience many different teachers, studios and styles enabled me to fully witness the universality of Yoga. This once viewed "stretching pastime" had transformed into a lifestyle that I felt called to embrace.

I received my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training (RYT-200) in La Jolla, CA at Prana Yoga Center, under Gerhard Gessner in 2017. I completed my training with the goal of deepening my own personal practice. Bigger plans were in motion. Immediately following the completion of my Yoga Teacher Training, I was hired as an instructor in Clovis, CA. I taught to a wide range of students and classes every week. Teaching continues to enabel me to deepen the bond with myself, within my relationships, and within my community. I am always striving for deeper growth and connection. In 2019, under Travis Eliot and Lauren Eckstrom of Los Angeles, CA, I completed my 500 hour Yoga Teacher Training RYT-500. I have come a long way since my first yoga class and I am thankful for the opportunities this beautiful practice continues to provide.

The journey of yoga is an inward search to find the very best within us & then to learn to express that everyday in our bodies, minds, & hearts.
